Last Sunday I went back to my “Sua Pah” (means village in Hokkien), which is located at Sungai Teku, Sibu. Sungai Teku is about 20 minute drive from Sibu town area.
Bengbeng was excited when I told him about it over the MSN on Saturday night. So he asked me if he and Victor could tag along. Permission granted!
The main agenda for this trip is to feast on King of Fruits, Durian. My cousin opened the durian and lining them up one by one as we sit down on the bench enjoying the fruit.
All of us digged in except for Victor. He later suffered some punishment from the mosquito. He he…
This is Black Olive or called “Dabai” in local Iban dialect. We called it “Kanna” in Hokkien. Just wash the fruit and then soaked them in warm water (NOT HOT) for 10 minutes. When the fruit become soft, you can remove the water and enjoy it. Some likes to eat it plain or you can dip it on soy sauce mix with some sugar.
These olive was brought over from Sarikei. My village also has 2 Dabai tree but most of the fruits are eaten by birds.

This is the outcome when you halves dabai seeds into 2. You can eat it. It taste like nuts.
After we have filled our belly with the tasty fruits, it’s time for a walk in the orchard to lose weight. He he…
This is Durian tree. Some of them were planted for more than 20 years. I remembered that when I was still a kid, we used to buy some durians from town. Whenever we tasted a good one, my father will keep one or two of the durian seed. He will then bring those seeds back to village to plant them.
So right now, I have free durians every year. He he…
Bamboo tree, seeing them bring out nostalgia feeling.
Two city boys trying to hunt with their big lens. LOL…
And they can’t stayed away from the chicken and keep stalking them.
Better start counting the chicken….1….2…..3…. Hey, where is no 4?
Siamese cat. Hmm….never seen your around?
Looks kinda gloomy when in my arms.
Nodding off on the roof of the dad’s old blue Toyota Corolla.

Victor tried to ease mosquito bite with some oil or “Minyak Cap Kapak”. My village mosquito only bite those who didn’t eat Durian. He he….

Bengbeng showing off his chest muscle, with his shirt on his shoulder. I edited the photo a bit, so that the photo looks like 70s, to match his posing style. LOL…
Bengbeng and Victor has more photos and stories in their blog. So hopped over to their blog for more coverage.
